COVINGTON - Herman Koebler, age 87, of 719 Railroad St., Covington, died at 10:55 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient two days. He had been seriously ill for the past year. Mr. Koebler was born Feb. 16, 1883 in Covington, the son of Theodore and Minnie Goldbach Koebler. He was married twice, first to Dessie Fulton, who died in 1940, and then he married Donna Gray Earl on Dec. 24, 1945 and she survives. He was a life resident of Covington and he was a building contractor by profession, specializing in plastering and brick-laying. He had spent the winters in Tampa and Ft. Myers, Fla., for a number of years. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one brother, John (Jake) Koebler of Covington; four stepchildren, Thomas L. Key of Danville, Ill., Mrs. William (Claudine) Craig of Bedford, Mrs. Othel Howard of Veedersburg Rt. 1, and Mrs. Earl (Jacqueline) Fields of Covington; 19 step-grandchildren; and several great step-grandchildren. He reared two step-grandchildren; and several great step-grandchildren. Mrs. Marie Baker of Bedford, and Clifford Berkley of Ft. Sill, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one step-daughter. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Leland Brett officiated and burial was in Upper Mound Cemetery, west of Covington. - jlr
